NEW YORK, January 8—Five public relations agency veterans from international firms Hill & Knowlton and Fleishman-Hillard have launched Vistance Group, which will specialize in helping clients address “high-stakes business challenges and opportunities.”

The five include Jack Gutt, Derwin Johnson, Adam Segall and Ed Trissel, all most recently with Hill & Knowlton, and Joshua Hochberg, who recently left Fleishman-Hillard. Between them, they have experience corporate positioning, financial communications, issues and crisis management, corporate philanthropy and executive coaching.

“From corporate positioning and litigation support to presentation training and communications during a transaction, we work with leading organizations to directly address their most critical communication needs,” says Trissel. “Vistance Group is not concerned with becoming a client's agency of record, but rather with becoming its agency of consequence. This enables the firm to focus on what matters most: tangible results.”

The firm will link its fees to the success it achieves on behalf of clients.

Trissel says the time is right for a firm that emphasizes high-stakes issues and measurable results. “During tough economic times, we consider the communication of business decisions to be critical. Our network of corporate communications and senior executives, attorneys, investment bankers and consultants appreciate the approach that we take, which is one of the reasons why we’ve decided to form this venture.”

Among the principals, Gutt is an expert in issues and crisis management and labor problems; Hochsberg specializes in financial communications including transactions, IPOs and restructurings; Johnson is a media trainer and executive coach; Segall focuses on corporate philanthropy and cause-related marketing; and Trissel is known for his work in corporate and executive positioning and business and financial media strategy.
