Former Harley PR Chief to Head Marketing for Segway

Segway, which developed and manufactures the Segway human transporter, has named Joseph Hice as director of marketing communications and chief marketing officer.

MANCHESTER, NH—Segway, which developed and manufactures the Segway human transporter, has named Joseph Hice as director of marketing communications and chief marketing officer. Hice will lead marketing and communications efforts for Segway in support of the company’s existing distribution channels and the growing network of retail dealers.

Prior to joining Segway, Hice served as director of corporate communications for the Harley-Davidson Motor Company and as vice president of the recreational products group for Minneapolis-based Russell & Herder Advertising. He was also director of marketing communications for the marine products division of Bombardier, Inc.

“As our distribution network grows and matures, it is critical that we take an aggressive and proactive approach to marketing and promoting the Segway brand,” said Ron Bills, chief executive officer of Segway. “Joe has extensive experience working with some of the nation’s strongest brands and he has been involved in every area of the marketing communications function. His hands-on experience in advertising, public relations, corporate communications and research will serve us well as we work to enhance the awareness and understanding of the Segway brand.”
