HONG KONG—Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has named James McGregor senior counselor for the Asia Pacific region. McGregor, who has served as China bureau chief for The Wall Street Journal and as chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Chica, will counsel Ogilvy clients on opportunities and issues relating to doing business in post-WTO China.

“I have known Ogilvy for more than a decade as I’ve worked in China,” he says. “I’ve consulted with businesses for the past year, providing direction for how to establish and develop operations in China, and I will now do this together with Ogilvy PR. No other communications group has backed up its commitment to China with the same level of investments, long-term client relationships and development of talent. I’m excited by our prospects for 2003 and the value we can provide to businesses looking to deepen their roots in China.”

McGregor was most recently China managing director at GIV Venture Partners, a $140 million private venture capital fund specializing in technology investments in China and India.
