CHICAGO—Golin/Harris International has become the latest agency to create a practice area-based management structure, naming worldwide directors for five strategic global practices and its CrossMedia creative services group.

Chicago office general manager Keith Burton will lead the corporate and employee communications practice; Richard Wolff in New York will lead financial relations; Ellen Ryan Mardiks in Chicago will lead marketing and brand strategy; R. Lane Bailey in Washington will lead public affairs; and Fred Cook in Los Angeles will lead technology. Rick Murray will continue as worldwide director of CrossMedia.

“We were seeing in surveys that while clients recognized the overall quality of Golin/Harrs, they didn’t always identify our strength in individual practice areas,” says agency CEO Rich Jernstedt. “We have always worked in these areas, but this will help to create more external focus on the experts we have in these areas.”
One practice area that’s missing is healthcare. “We are developing our capabilities in healthcare,” says Jernstedt. “But right now we don’t have a healthcare presence in enough markets to put it into a worldwide practice.”
