Hawkins Picks Up South African Tourism for U.S.

Hawkins International has added South African Tourism to its global client portfolio. The firm will handle a three-year public relations campaign during the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

NEW YORK—Hawkins International has added South African Tourism to its global client portfolio. The firm will handle a three-year public relations campaign during the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2010, which will be held in South Africa for the first time. Hawkins is working as a subcontractor of London-based public relations agency Financial Dynamics, recently selected by South African Tourism to manage the account worldwide. 

South African Tourism is the national tourism agency for the country of South Africa, responsible for marketing the country internationally as a year-round, all-season, myriad-genre and preferred tourism destination. Hawkins International’s role will be to proactively promote South Africa’s attributes to the American traveling public.

HIPR’s account director for South African Tourism, Louise O’Brien, has an extensive history in destination marketing, having previously represented Maison de la France, the French Government Tourist Office, and the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority.
