In2Summit London: Blippar Co-Founder Joins Tomorro

Arun Sudhaman

We're very happy to announce a new addition to the highly-anticipated Tomorrow's Brands panel at our London Innovation Summit on 20 May. Jess Butcher, co-founder and CMO of augmented reality startup Blippar, will join the discussion, bringing a unique entrepreneurial perspective into how new businesses are disrupting the traditional engagement model. Butcher has over 13 years' experience in marketing and senior partnership roles within fast-growth environments. Most notably, in 2009, she oversaw EMEA business development at Alibaba.com during its launch into Europe. She also headed up partnerships at isango.com — a leisure e-aggregator, reputable for its exponential growth and later sold to Thomas Cook — as well as founding Integritour, a tour operator promoting community tourism and job creation in the most impoverished part of West Kenya. As co-founding CMO of Blippar, Butcher oversees the rapid international expansion of the brand and the consumer-marketing divisions.  With her co-founders, she has already seen Blippar scoop a series of industry awards, including 'Best of Le Web' (2012), 'Most Innovative New Tech' (MWC, 2012), 'Best UK Tech Start-Up' (UKTI, 2012), and 'Best AR Browser' (AR Awards, 2012), to name a few. She joins a star-studded Tomorrow's Brands panel that also include Airbnb brand evangelist Chris Lukezic and Ruth Barnett, the former Sky News correspondent who is now VP of global communications at Swiftkey, the UK company that was recently named London’s hottest startup by Wired Magazine. Also featuring in the discussion will be Andreas Winiarski, global head of PR at Rocket Internet, the €3bn German startup incubator that is led by the Samwer brothers. The panel discussion, moderated by the Holmes Report, will focus on how startups are redefining engagement and interaction with consumers and other stakeholders. Many, for example, see little distinction between conventional definitions of ‘marketing’ and ‘communications’, and the most successful have built their brands by placing their customers at the heart of their proposition. The panel will explore these themes in detail, focusing on what marketers and PR people can learn from the next generation of brands. The In2 Summit is taking place at Kings Place London from 10.45am to 4pm on 20 May, including the In2 SABRE Awards EMEA ceremony at lunchtime. You can register for tickets, priced at £100, here. That evening, the Diamond/Gold SABRE Awards EMEA dinner will take place at the Roundhouse London.
