MIAMI, March 1—The Jeffrey Group, which serves multinational clients throughout Latin America, has notified MasterCard International that it intends to resign the account. Jeffrey, which has served MasterCard in the region for nearly five years, says it believes the interests of all concerned are best served by ending the relationship at this time.

Agency president Jeff Sharlach says his firm is working with MasterCard to determine an effective date for the resignation and will use its best efforts to serve MasterCard during this transition period and to ensure a smooth transfer to a new agency.

“The Jeffrey Group has valued its relationship with MasterCard in Latin America and is proud of the many contributions by the agency team to the company’s success in the region,” said Sharlach. “We resigned the account because of circumstances outside of the agency which were beyond our control and which were making it increasingly difficult for us to properly service the account.”

Sharlach said the firm had recently added FedEx and Compaq to its client list, and has not laid off any staff.
