CHICAGO—Ketchum has appointed Cathy Kapica vice president and director of global health and wellness in the firm’s global food and nutrition practice. Kapica, who will be based in Ketchum’s Chicago office, joins Ketchum from McDonald’s, where she was global director of nutrition, strengthening the fast food giant’s science-based nutrition information, menu development and corporate wellness initiatives.
“Cathy’s addition further secures our leadership stake in the wellness arena, an area that has become a key driver of growth for us and our clients,” said Linda Eatherton, partner and director of the global food and nutrition practice. Previously, Kapica was senior scientist and director of nutrition education at The Quaker Oats Company, now the Quaker/Tropicana/Gatorade unit of PepsiCo. She also worked with GD Searle & Co. on NutraSweet and Simplesse.
In addition, she has served on faculty at FUHS/The Chicago Medical School. “In today’s environment of global public health issues and corporate responsibility, those who want to see their sales grow must actively pursue a health and wellness strategy,” says Kapica. “Joining Ketchum will enable me to work with a team of highly talented people to expand and integrate health and wellness issues across its global practices.”
