NEW YORK—MSLGroup has hired Steve Marino, who recently worked on BP’s social media response to the Gulf oil spill, as senior vice president, North America and director of the digital and social media practice. Based in New York, Marino will report to Jim Tsokanos, president of the Americas, and Renee Wilson, president of the Northeast region and managing director of MSL New York.
Marino will work to create a more integrated approach for clients, allowing them to focus on building reputation and defining identity for their stakeholders and key audiences. In addition, he will lead strategy across the MSLGroup network’s 15 diversified agencies, including PBJS, Kekst and Company and TMG Strategies.
Marino most recently served as senior vice president in the 360° Digital Influence practice of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, where he led digital strategy for the BP crisis. Prior to Ogilvy, he worked at AKQA in Washington, D.C. He has worked on campaigns for some of the world’s top marketers, including Kellogg Company, Mercedes-Benz, N.A., Nissan, and Infiniti, N.A., M&M Mars Snickers brand, The Mayo Clinic and Merck, and Texas Instruments.
