NEW YORK, December 13—Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has named Eric Merkel-Sobotta, formerly director of APCO Worldwide, as head of its Brussels office.
While at APCO, Merkel-Sobotta was responsible for directing some of the firm’s largest public
affairs and policy communications accounts, including the European Express Association (grouping DHL, FedEx, TNT and UPS), British Airways and The Walt Disney Company.
According to Nick May, President of Ogilvy PR/Europe, “This is a strategically vital office for our global clients because EU institutions are increasingly active and effective, particularly in the areas of antitrust, health, defense and privacy. Eric is ideally suited to increase the number of pan-European branding assignments that we expect to see following the introduction of the Euro and price transparency next year.”
The Brussels office generated nearly $3 million in revenues and represents clients including Kraft Europe, Sony and Unilever.
