NEW YORK--MSLGroup's US leadership reshuffle continues with the announcement that Joel Curran will become managing director of its New York office.

Curran relocates from Chicago, where he headed the firm's Midwest operations. His move comes after MSLGroup parted ways with US president Jim Tsokanos and named Renee Wilson to head its operations in the country.

Curran, who tripled the size of MSL Chicago during the recession, takes on responsibility for nearly 200 staff and some of MSLGroup’s key client relationships. The New York MD role had been vacant since Wilson's own promotion to chief client officer earlier this year.

"He has been instrumental in helping MSLGROUP evolve into a next-generation, contemporary agency that offers a full array of communication and engagement services from digital and social media to public relations, experiential marketing and advertising," said Wilson in a statement.

Curran was also executive client engagement director for the firm’s long-standing GM relationship. He joined MSL in 2008, after previously serving as MD of CKPR, the PR arm of independent ad agency Cramer-Krasselt. Curran also spent a decade at the Walt Disney Co.

As MD of the Midwest, Curran oversaw the Chicago office and operations in Detroit, helping to net new assignments from Daisy Brands, Delta Faucet, DeVry University, GM, Mazola and Sealy Mattresses.
