NEW YORK, July 10—Karen Barnett, a veteran of senior marketing communications positions at The MWW Group and DeVries Public Relations, has joined Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as senior vice president and group director. She will head the marketing practice in the firm’s New York office, replacing John Quick, who has left the firm to pursue other interests.

According to Paul Hicks, managing director of the New York office, “We recognize that the marketing practice is central to our heritage, and expanding this practice is important to our continued success. Karen will be at the forefront of the effort to build on these initiatives.” She will work with the leadership of the office and with Mark Curran, who heads the global marketing practice.

Immediately prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Barnett served as senior vice president and consumer group director for The MWW Group and was senior vice president and consumer division director at DeVries Public Relations.  She has also held management positions at Edelmen Worldwide and Fleishman-Hillard, and for four years owned and operated her own creative marketing and PR firm, Barnett Marketing North America.
