DENVER, July 29—Bob Schenkein founder and president of Denver-based public relations firm Schenkein is handing over the reins to two of his senior executives, Leanna Clark and Christin Crampton-Day. Under a buyout succession plan, the two executives become 100 percent owners of the firm, which has revenues of $2.8 million and is the third largest in Denver, according to the Council for PR Firms.

Clark and Crampton Day, who joined the firm nearly seven years ago, became 33 percent owners four years ago and have assumed increasing executive leadership responsibilities, helping to develop a distinctive mentoring culture that has earned Schenkein recognition as one of the best midsize PR firms to work for in the country.

“These two superb businesswomen have been instrumental in helping me grow this firm and creating some of the most successful public relations programs in the country,” says Schenkein. “This is just the final step in formalizing the leadership roles they’ve been playing at the agency for a number of years now.”

The firm will continue to bear the Schenkein name, and Schenkein plans to work full time as a resource to the agency as part of the company’s executive leadership team through 2003, when he anticipates retiring and serving the agency in an advisory role.

“We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished jointly in building a business  and a culture that consistently draws national recognition,” says Clark, “But we’ve never lost sight that we’re building on the foundation laid by Bob. We’re honored to have this chance to take what he’s built over three decades and continue to make it flourish.”

Adds Crampton-Day, “It’s truly a team effort at Schenkein, and we’re extremely fortunate to have such a talented, dedicated staff that have fully supported this ownership transition every step of the way. And, we’re very pleased that Bob will remain an integral part of our team through 2003, as we continue to provide our clients with top-notch service and leading edge public relations programs.”
