Hill & Knowlton has named Nick May head of its health and pharmaceutical practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He will report jointly to Andrew Laurence, chairman Hill & Knowlton EMEA practices, and Paul McDade, worldwide director of the health and pharmaceutical practice.

LONDON—Hill & Knowlton has named Nick May head of its health and pharmaceutical practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He will report jointly to Andrew Laurence, chairman Hill & Knowlton EMEA practices, and Paul McDade, worldwide director of the health and pharmaceutical practice. May joined the firm in January this year as chairman of the U.K. healthcare practice. He has 30 years experience in the healthcare sector, most recently as president of Ogilvy’s European network.

WALTHAM, MA—Schwartz Communications has won nine new accounts. The new clients include the American Society of Breast Surgeons and leading medical device, micropayment and biometric technology companies. The other new clients include Microsulis Americas, a developer of endometrial ablation technology; NovaVision, a developer of vsion restoration therapy; FDC/aerofilter Designs, which manufactures and supports turbine engine inlet barrier filtration systems for helicopters; Peppercoin, a micropayments company;  SightSpeed, a leader in visual communications; Startech Environmental Corporation, an environmental technology company; TradeStone Software, which provides collaborative
e-sourcing software; and Zvetco Biometrics, maker of the VerifiT system for secure and convenient logon to computer networks and Internet sites.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bush administration veteran Jeffrey Bloemker has joined Rhoads|Weber Shandwick Government Relations as associate. A former special assistant to the assistant secretary of the Army for Installations and Environment, Bloemker will work for clients including the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission on base closure issues.

ENGLEWOOD, CO—Starz Encore Group has named Allyson Taylor to the newly created position of manager of public relations in the Starz corporate communications department. Taylor will report to Eric Becker, executive director of corporate communications. Taylor will be responsible primarily for coordinating and implementing local public relations campaigns, including working with cable and satellite affiliates to generate publicity for Starz services. Most recently, Taylor was director of communications for Dave & Buster’s, an operator of large-format entertainment complexes based in Dallas.

CLEVELAND—Dix & Eaton has hired Ryan Bennett as research specialist. Bennett will work alongside research manager Peter Jensen providing research, analysis and measurement services to the firm’s clients. Bennett was most recently a credit risk analyst with United Consumer Financial Services.

RALEIGH, NC—French/West/Vaughan has been named agency of record for WebSourced, a global
leader in search engine marketing. FWV will support two separate public relations initiatives for WebSourced, providing communications for the company’s search engine optimization (SEO) division, KeywordRanking.com and developing and executing a marketing strategy for Cherish.com, a brand recently acquired by WebSourced.

ATLANTA—Michael Dickie has joined The Titan Network, a strategic marketing firm, as a senior vice president in charge of strategic marketing for the agency’s public relations and advertising clients. Dickie has held senior management positions at BellSouth for eight years across small, medium and large business markets, most recently as executive director of sales operations, small business services and vice president of marketing, small business services.
