Northwest Airlines Names New Communications Leadership

Northwest Airlines has named Richard Hirst senior vice president of corporate affairs and administration and Tammy Lee vice president of corporate communications, reporting to Hirst.

EAGAN, MN—Northwest Airlines has named Richard Hirst senior vice president of corporate affairs and administration and Tammy Lee vice president of corporate communications, reporting to Hirst.

Hirst has been serving as the interim head of Northwest’s corporate communications. In his new role, he will be responsible for the airline’s internal and external communications, along with other corporate responsibilities, and will report to Douglas Steenland, president and CEO. He first came to Northwest Airlines in 1990 as senior vice president and general counsel and in 1994 became senior vice president of corporate affairs, responsible for government affairs and labor relations.

Lee will have responsibility for managing corporate communications activities at Northwest. She comes to Northwest from Bernstein Global Management in Minneapolis where she served as vice president. Previously, she served as managing director of corporate affairs for U.S. Airways and as vice president marketing and corporate affairs for Sun Country Airlines.
