Ogilvy Opens in Kenya

Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has opened its first office on the African continent, and the first by a major international public relations firm in Nairobi, Kenya.

NAIROBI, March 12—Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has opened its first office on the African continent, and the first by a major international public relations firm in Nairobi, Kenya. The office will be led by managing director Koome Mwambia former head of corporate and marketing communications at Kenya Airways.

Ogilvy chairman and CEO said the new office would offer “our current clients a beachhead on the African continent.” Kenya has emerged as a regional hub for multinationals doing business in East Africa, and has a significant tourism industry.
The Kenya office has a staff of four representing clients including D.T. Dobie, a motor dealership and franchise holder for Daimler Chrysler and Nissan Japan; The Stanley, Nairobia’s oldest five star hotel; and Bamburi Portland Cement, a mining company.
