PORTLAND, OR, February 21—Real-World PR is using its website to sell public relations “toolkits” designed to allow small business owners and nonprofit organizations to run their own PR programs.

The company’s flagship product is called PR Gold: The Turnkey Public Relations Toolkit for Small Businesses, and is a comprehensive how-to PR package including a 160-page manual with step-by-step instructions on everything from performing a communications audit to writing a press release to creating and maintaining effective media relations. The toolkit also comes with a CD containing templates and samples of nearly 20 public relations documents.

Single-topic toolkits focus on business promotion, website promotion, identity building, competitive intelligence, and crisis management and sell for under $200.

Says Real-World PR co-founder Jim Buchanan, “Two factors have traditionally made effective public relations unavailable to small businesses and nonprofits: the lack of good information tailored to their needs and the high cost of employing public relations counsel. Our toolkits are complete, turnkey programs that make the tools and techniques of public relations accessible and affordable.”
