Golin Harris promotes Patella; Welz & Weisel adds two; Brooks Automation names IR director; and Heyman promotes a new senior associate.

NEW YORK—GolinHarris has promoted Paul Patella to vice president in its New York corporate practice. Patella manages and implements corporate communications and media relations strategy for both the Dow Chemical Company and Molson Coors. Prior to joining GolinHarris, he served at Gibbs & Soell Public Relations and began his career as a financial news journalist.

FAIRFAX, VA—Welz & Weisel Communications, a public relations firm focused on the information technology sector, has named Jennifer Aleknavage as director and Suzanne Linville as account executive.  Previously as a communications manager for LexisNexis, an information services and solutions provider, Aleknavage led the internal and external communications strategies for the U.S. corporate markets, including support for global product launches. Before LexisNexis, she was director of public relations for ISM, Inc., which specializes in customer relationship management consulting.

CHELMSFORD, MA—Brooks Automation, a supplier to the semiconductor and related industries, has appointed Michael McCarthy as director of investor relations. Immediately prior to joining Brooks, McCarthy had spent more than 13 years at Photronics most recently leading the investor relations and corporate communications function. He takes the place of Mark Chung, who was recently appointed vice president of sales for Brooks Automation Korea.

NEW YORK—Executive search firm Heyman Associates has promoted Doug Serton to senior associate, as he takes on increased responsibility in high-level communications searches.
