Ruder Finn has appointed Angelo Terrana as vice president for media affairs in its Washington, D.C., office.

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Ruder Finn has appointed Angelo Terrana as vice president for media affairs in its Washington, D.C., office. Terrana will direct the agency’s D.C.’s media affairs practice and will report directly to managing director Neil Dhillon. Terrana previously served as communications director for two high-profile Members of Congress: Congresswoman Melissa Hart (R-Pa.) and Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Pa). In the agency realm, Terrana was a senior account supervisor in Hill & Knowlton’s D.C. crisis communications practice and the deputy managing editor for the National Journal’s Hotline during the 2000 campaign cycle. NEW YORK—The Toy Industry Association has named Daniela Weiss vice president of strategic marketing & communications. Weiss will develop new directions for a TIA marketing campaign to support the association’s recently-adopted strategic plan. Most recently, Weiss served as executive director of Drisha Institute, a center for the advanced study of Jewish texts,. Earlier, she served as vice president of marketing at Citigroup for eight years, responsible for building brand equity in regional and global markets, and leading a cross-functional team to repackage communications and boost customer satisfaction. She also served as senior communications manager for TIAA-CREF and managed corporate communications at The New York Public Library. WASHINGTON, D.C.—Roger Bolton, former senior vice president of communications for Aetna, has joined APCO Worldwide’s international advisory council, which includes a number of high-level strategists including Pat Cox, former president of the European Parliament; Dr. Ludolf von Wartenberg, managing director of the Federation of German Industries; Sergio Marchi, previously a Canadian government cabinet minister and ambassador to the World Trade Organization; and Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat, former U.S. representative to the European Union. Bolton chaired Aetna’s council for organizational effectiveness, which promotes culture change, and was a member of the boards of the Aetna Foundation, the Aetna Political Action Committee and the Aetna public policy committee. Prior to joining Aetna, Bolton was director of corporate media relations at IBM and before that assistant secretary of the Treasury for public affairs in the George H.W. Bush administration. ANDOVER, MA—PAN Communications, which specializes in technology, professional services and consumer goods, has promoted Jennifer Meyer and Jodie Wertheim to the position of director. Meyer has been with PAN for more than nine years and has worked with both established companies and start-ups in the enterprise software industries, from BPM and CRM technologies to application security. Prior to joining PAN Communications, Jennifer worked in the corporate communications department at Fidelity Investments. Wertheim has been with PAN for five years. Prior to joining PAN, she worked at Fitzgerald Communications and served in various account management roles at PR firms in the Philadelphia area. LANSING, MI—John Bailey & Associates Public Relations has hired Ari Adler as director of public affairs in the firm’s Lansing office. Adler comes to JB&A from former State Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema’s office, where he served as press secretary and deputy chief of staff for the past three years. He previously worked under former Gov. John Engler as the director of communications for the Department of Transportation and in the House Republican communications office. He also served as vice president and director of communications for the Corradino Group, a Detroit-based transportation-consulting agency. DELRAY BEACH, FL—Applied Digital, which provides identification and security technology, has hired Allison F. Tomek as vice president of investor relations and corporate communications. In a newly created position, Tomek will be the primary liaison to the investment community and media. Most recently, she served as director of investor relations and corporate communications for Andrx Corporation, a specialty pharmaceuticals company. ATLANTA—communications 21, a full-service marketing public relations firm, has added Elyse Hammett as vice-president of client services. She most recently served as the lead of the marketing communications team at international law firm Troutman Sanders, and spent more than seven years at BellSouth, where she led a variety of corporate communications initiatives..
