SAN FRANCISCO, February 14—PeopleSoft, which manufactures enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software, has terminated its two-year relationship with high-tech public relations specialist Phase Two Strategies and will reportedly begin a search for a firm with broader global capabilities.

Phase Two was hired by PeopleSoft in March of 2000 to help launch the company’s PeopleSoft 8 product, and later assisted with three other major product launches, including the company’s entry into the CRM software business. Phase Two also helped secure corporate coverage.

According to Phase Two president Bill Boehlke, “When we were brought in there was the perception of negative momentum, and we needed to tell the turnaround story. We’re very proud that many
observers have told us they consider PeopleSoft’s public relations turnaround during the last two years to be truly outstanding work.”

Boehlke said PeopleSoft was one of the firm’s three top accounts, with up to 20 staff members working on the business, but added he expected to replace the business quickly. “We’ve had to turn down dozens of new business prospects due to PeopleSoft conflicts these past years. Now, we’ll be aggressively seeking clients who see value in hiring about 20 outstanding people with expertise across the spectrum of enterprise software technologies, applications and vertical markets.

“The last time we lost a client of this size, we replaced it within a matter of a few days.”
