SEATTLE—Hill & Knowlton has named Randy Pepple CEO of Rockey Hill & Knowlton (formerly The Rockey Company), the firm’s Northwest division. Pepple becomes Rockey’s fourth CEO since its inception in 1962, and succeeds former CEO John Hough, who will become chairman of the company. Pepple also joins Hill & Knowlton’s US executive committee.
Art Merrick, a former Hill & Knowlton manager who rejoined Rockey in 1991, continues as president of Rockey Hill & Knowlton, and Jay Rockey, founder and former chairman, continues his role as senior counsel.
Hough, who joined The Rockey Company in 1990, has been CEO of Rockey since 1996. During his tenure as CEO, he led efforts to acquire four other Northwest public relations firms and guided the firm’s sale to Hill & Knowlton.
Pepple was previously executive vice president at the firm, and has served as director of public affairs at Rockey Hill & Knowlton since 1999. Previously, he served as chief of staff to Congressman Rick White (R-Wa) and spent a decade as a political consultant.
