SAN DIEGO, May 16—GCS Public Relations, the new firm led by former Gable Group president Tom Gable has been retained by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and by Epicyte Pharmaceutical, a San Diego company that uses patented technology to enable the production of human antibodies in plants for treating inflammatory and infectious diseases.

Pfizer tapped the firm to provide media relations support for the official grand opening of Pfizer La Jolla, the future home of one of the largest pharmaceutical research centers in the West. A GCS team led by partners Gable and Jon Schmid worked with Pfizer corporate affairs staff to develop print and broadcast media materials, and coordinated a press conference for the opening.

The firm will provide both investor and public relations for Epicyte, a biopharmaceutical company that is partnered with Dow Chemical Company.
