NEW YORK—Investor relations veteran Ted Pincus, who built The Financial Relations Board into the nation’s third largest independent PR agency before selling it to True North Communications in 2000, has joined StevensGouldPartners as a partner.
StevensGouldPartners was formed last November by PR vets Art Stevens and Rick Gould to assist with mergers and acquisitions in the public relations industry. Pincus will continue his other post-FRB activities—he is a business columnist for the Chicago Sun Times, a finance professor at the DePaul University MBA program and advisor to top managements of Fortune 500 corporations and other clients—in addition to his new role with StevensGouldPartners.
According to Stevens and Gould, “Ted adds a dimension to our firm that will enable us to complete more acquisitions than ever before. He brings to us knowledge of the private equity, venture capital and financial institutional aspects of acquisitions that will allow SGP to not only act as matchmakers to buyers and sellers but help us find sources for financing and multi-deal situations as well.”
Pincus, who is based in Chicago and New York, joins Stevens, Gould and five senior associates.
His former firm, The Financial Relations Board, had $37 million in net fee income before it was acquired for $40 million. Following his sale of FRB, he served as vice chairman of BSMG public relations group, and more recently as senior consultant to True North’s new parent Interpublic and its Weber Shandwick Group.
