FORT LAUDERDALE—Porter Novelli has named Fernando Figueredo as director of the agency’s Latin American region. Figueredo, who will be based in Fort Lauderdale and also will serve as the general manager of that office, will lead client service and business development efforts in the region. He also will provide the agency with new expertise in reaching the growing Hispanic market in the U.S.

Most recently, Figueredo ran his own firm while serving as a professor of public relations at Florida International University. Prior to that, he served as vice president of corporate communications for AOL Latin America, as vice president for corporate communications for the Latin American region at Lucent Technologies, and was AT&T’s public relations regional director for the Caribbean and Central America.

Porter Novelli has a regional presence of 19 offices in 18 countries in Latin America. The agency’s Florida office serves as the hub for many of its client’s pan-regional programs.
