LONDON—Porter Novelli has hired Sally Ward as partner and managing director of its United Kingdom operations. Ward spent seven years with Porter Novelli in London earlier in her career and returns to replace Jean Wyllie, who announced her departure from the agency late last year.

Ward most recently was founder and director of Plum Consulting, an executive search, talent management and senior-level coaching and mentoring firm. She has placed candidates with leading U.K. communications firms as well as the British government and a number of well-known global brands.

Before forming Plum, Ward spent five years in various capacities with Weber Shandwick in the U.K., guiding the firm’s consumer practice and implementing a talent management program for a U.K. staff of 300.  She left Weber at the end of 2006 as the firm’s European vice chairman.

Prior to her time at Weber, Ward spent seven years with Porter Novelli (formerly Countrywide Porter Novelli), as a portfolio director and later as the agency’s U.K. development director, responsible for new business, marketing and creativity initiatives.

In addition to her roles as U.K. MD and partner, Ward will join Porter Novelli’s executive committee.
