NEW YORK—Porter Novelli has reorganized its life sciences practice to focus on established companies in pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics and health information technology. The practice will continue to specialize in corporate reputation, research and development and global health communications and will be driven from three key locations: Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.

Virginia Amann will lead the practice from Chicago and provide senior strategy and communication leadership for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies. Betsy Merryman will provide senior strategy and communications counsel from Los Angeles for medical device and diagnostics companies. Stig Albinus will provide senior strategic counsel regarding health care technology convergence from New York.

Carin Canale Theakston, who previously headed the practice from San Diego, recently left the agency to start a venture to serve emerging life sciences companies and will serve as a consultant to Porter Novelli.
