NEW YORK—Jeff Raleigh is stepping back into his former role as general manager of the San Francisco office of Hill & Knowlton following the departure of Rick Rice, who has led the office for the past five years. Rice has decided to take a break from the public relations business, and says he is “looking forward to stepping back, taking some time off and then thinking about what comes next for me.”

Raleigh has spent 18 years with Hill & Knowlton and has held a number of positions including: general manager of both the San Francisco and New York offices; director of client service; environmental practice director; Netcoms (interactive) practice director and global account director for the Compaq account. He has been a member of the company’s U.S. management committee for 11 years.

“Jeff is an experienced professional who has provided communications and public affairs counsel in situations ranging from transportation accidents, to corporate reorganizations to mining disasters,” says MaryLee Sachs, CEO of H&K U.S.  “His knowledge of the San Francisco market is second-to-none.” She adds that Rice had done “a superb job” in building H&K’s San Francisco presence.

Succeeding Raleigh as acting practice director for H&K’s U.S. Netcoms group is Adam Smith. He will be responsible for managing the operations of the company’s interactive offering.
