NEW YORK—Hill & Knowlton has named Thomas Reno, most recently president of the New York office of GCI Group, as general manager of its New York office. He will report to MaryLee Sachs, president and CEO of Hill & Knowlton USA, and will serve as a member of the U.S. executive committee.

“Tom is an exceptional leader for the firm with thorough experience with clients and a keen desire to develop and mentor best-in-class talent,” says Sachs. “He represents the optimal combination of skills we look for in our Hill & Knowlton leaders and we are very excited to have him on board.”

A specialist in reputation management and corporate branding, has 20 years of public relations and financial journalism experience, much of it in the financial and professional services sector. Before joining GCI, he was managing director of Makovsky & Co., where he directed the corporate and financial practice, and headed corporate communications for Miami-based merchant bank Huberman Margaretten & Straus.

Reno replaces Marilyn Castaldi, who stepped down as general manager of H&K’s New York office late last year to become chief communications officer for Columbia University Medical Center.
