NEW YORK—Telecommunications and network software company NEC America has retained Ruder Finn as its public relations agency of record. Ruder Finn’s technology group will support communications programs for NEC America’s five business units.

Texas-based NEC America selected Ruder Finn for its expertise in corporate communications, information technology services and expertise within the telecommunications industry, following a competitive pitch that also included Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. The account is believed to be worth seven figures annually.

“Our goal is to increase corporate visibility and product recognition within the market. We selected Ruder Finn because of their understanding of our industry and business objectives,” said Masao Hibino, president and CEO of NEC America, Inc.  “Ruder Finn has the right mix of resources with the communications and industry expertise we require to address the varied needs of our company and marketplace.”

The Ruder Finn team for NEC America will be led by executive vice president Robert Dowling, senior vice president Alicia Dollard and vice president Mimi Anderson.
