DUBLIN—Edelman is parting ways with the two most senior executives at its Irish operation, as part of a restructuring that will see the Dublin office report into the UK.

The move sees MD Mark Cahalane and deputy MD Geraldine O'Neill exit the firm, with the consultation process currently ongoing.

“Edelman has decided to align its Dublin office more closely with its UK business," said Edelman UK GM Alex Bigg. "The alignment will allow us work in partnership with our UK colleagues to explore growth opportunities in specialist areas. Dublin is and will remain an important centre of operations for Edelman and Edelman is fully committed to operating and growing its operations in the Irish market. “.

Joe Carmody has been named acting head of Edelman Ireland, which counts Ryanair and Musgrave among its clients. The office currently employs about 20 people.

It is understood that the decisions were taken following tough market conditions, in a bid to 'right-size' the agency.

Cahalane, who also chaired Edelman's EMEA corporate practice, departs the firm after almost eight years. O'Neill, meanwhile, has spent nearly a decade with Edelman in Ireland.
