NEW YORK—Philip Sheldon, who departed as general manager of the New York office of Hill & Knowlton earlier this year, has joined Lippe Taylor, an independent boutique agency specializing in brand development and marketing, as managing director.

Sheldon has more than two decades of experience in public relations and marketing counseling, planning, management and implementation on both the corporate and agency sides of the profession. Before joining H&K, he was head of the healthcare practice at Porter Novelli, and spent 17 years at Pharmacia—formerly The Upjohn Company— where he held a wide variety of positions including nearly a decade as director of the company’s worldwide, human health public relations unit.

“This is a great hire for our agency, “ said Maureen Lippe, president.  “Phil brings a wealth of senior management talent and strategic thinking to our organization at a time when we are moving aggressively to expand our business by providing existing and new clients with innovative approaches that work in today’s dynamic marketplace.”

Lippe says Sheldon’s crisis and issues management expertise combined with broad consumer and professional brand communications experience will add to her firm’s award-winning, creative approach. The firm is best known for its work in the fashion and beauty arena, representing clients including Biore, Jergens, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble and Sara Lee.

Sheldon says he considered several agency positions and at least one corporate job before settling on Lippe Taylor. “I was attracted to Lippe Taylor as an independent agency known for its creative execution and great results,” he says. “As budgets have gotten tight in the current economic climate, many clients are gravitating towards smaller, more flexible agencies that move quickly in responding to client needs and to the dynamic markets in which they do business.

“I’m looking forward to being an integral part of Lippe Taylor, where strong editorial relationships, creativity, passion for the profession, and commitment to client service, guarantee that clients receive outstanding senior marketing counsel, on-target strategy, and break through execution to meet their corporate marketing goals.”
