WATERTOWN, MA—Technology public relations specialist Shift Communications has launched a new PR: Sales extranet, inspired by results from a recent survey. The new extranet is an online repository that provides sales teams with actionable, always-fresh company news and other selling tools, as well as timely marketplace intelligence.
Stocked with data culled from Shift’s PR databases, the PR:Sales Extranet is refreshed daily, and is available exclusively to clients of the firm.
Sales teams need ammunition to properly position themselves against competitors, deflect potential snags in the sales process and ultimately close more deals, according to the PR Perception Gap Survey announced in January 2005. The survey revealed that while PR provides valuable support for the sales arena, most companies inadequately leverage the day-to-day results generated by PR. For example, 25 percent of survey respondents said their companies don’t provide sales with media coverage in any format, and only 45 percent said they do so on a regular basis.
“Despite the solid results generated by marketing and PR, most sales teams see only a fraction of the news articles, case studies and analyst reports written about their companies’ successes,” said Shift principal Todd Defren. “Shift has significantly narrowed the gap between marketing and sales by creating a central, online repository that puts all relevant news and information, both internal and competitive, at the fingertips of those who most need timely information: sales people.”
