LAS VEGAS—Ballard Communications has named Steven Stern, most recently a senior executive at Pondel/Wilkinson MSL, as executive vice president. Stern will manage the company’s corporate communications, crisis communications and new investor relations practice.

According to agency president Michael Ballard, “The creation of a strategic investor relations practice fills a significant void in Nevada, as well as the entire southwest region. Steve Stern is a nationally recognized expert in this arena, as well as in crisis and corporate communications. Having Steve with the company not only fills an important role for our company, but also enables me to focus solely on my responsibilities as president.”

Stern sold his firm, Stern & Company, a strategic communications firm specializing in corporate, investor, litigation and crisis communications, to Pondel/Wilkinson in 1998. He has represented  clients including Bergen Brunswig (now Amerisource/Bergen), Teledyne, Hollywood Park, Republic Pictures, LA Gear, Shamrock Holdings, and Orion Pictures. He was also vice president of corporate communications and investor relations at PurchasePro and vice president of corporate communications at Gulf+Western Industries.
