NEW YORK—Edelman has named Susan Stillings executive vice president and global managing director of the firm’s financial practice. Stillings joins from Ogilvy Public Relations, where she was managing director of Ogilvy Financial in the Asia Pacific region. Her expertise includes counseling on transaction and crisis communications, investor relations, and financial and corporate communications.

Stillings will be based in New York and report to Matthew Harrington, chair of Edelman’s corporate practice and president of the U.S. Eastern region. She will be responsible for the growth of the firm’s global financial practice, which works with private firms and public companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 corporations as they position themselves among financial audiences, create and protect shareholder value, manage communications arising from adverse developments, and execute strategic transactions including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity listings and restructurings.

“As globalization spurs more cross-border M&A, multiple exchange listings, and complex capital markets transactions, clients are looking for firms that can offer consistent, strategic counsel, adapted to local markets,” says Stillings. “Our global reach and financial expertise in major money centers, combined with the resources of a full-service agency, allows Edelman to provide clients powerful solutions for their stakeholder communications.”

During her tenure at Ogilvy, Stillings provided senior communications and investor relations counsel to Chinese companies listed in the U.S., including Suntech Power, Baidu and New Oriental Education & Technology Group, and also to multi-national companies expanding into Asia. Prior to joining Ogilvy, she was a managing director with Joele Frank Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher. Her in-house experience includes managing global corporate communications for Iomega Corp. and computer products distributor Merisel.
