EDINBURGH— Viking Energy has appointed PR firm Weber Shandwick for a community outreach campaign to ensure that local communities have their say on plans for a windfarm on Shetland, Viking Energy, along with its partner Scottish & Southern Energy, hopes to submit plans for a 153 turbine windfarm to the Scottish government by the end of 2008.

According to Bill Manson, Viking Energy chairman: “As a company formed to represent the interests of the Shetland community we are committed to involving everyone in the local community in the decision making process. There is evident support for the windfarm, but it is by no means unanimous and we want to make sure people have the information they need to form their own opinion.”
