BOSTON—Waggener Edstrom Strategic Communications has opened a Boston office, its second on the east coast. The firm believes its emerging bioscience practice will fit well with the Boston area’s science and technology sector.

The office will be managed by vice president Kristin Hilf, who joined Waggener Edstrom in March from her post as president of Cunningham Public Relations.

“Coming on the heels of our successful move into the New York area, Boston was a natural next step for our expansion on the East Coast,” said Keith Lindenburg, senior vice president of Waggener Edstrom. “Boston represents a major U.S. hub for science, technology, financial services and innovation, and we think our experience and perspective will bring significant value to companies in this area.”

The agency first moved to the East Coast two years ago and now maintains a thriving office in Stamford, Conn. Major east coast accounts include MasterCard International Inc., Reed Exhibitions, Knowledge Products and OutlookSoft Corp. Lahive & Cockfield, a Boston-based legal firm, will be the first account serviced from the Boston office.
