NEW YORK—Nortel has selected Weber Shandwick as its global public relations agency of record.  The decision was made following a comprehensive review of proposals from a list of global agencies with the goal of consolidating the company’s worldwide public relations support with a single organization.

Nortel’s public relations activities will be focused on further strengthening the Nortel brand, driving increased awareness and media attention, and developing initiatives that highlight Nortel’s unique competitive advantage in the marketplace.

“The consolidation of our global public relations activities with Weber Shandwick delivers a more focused effort, within a simplified and more efficient structure for Nortel worldwide,” said Lauren Flaherty, Nortel’s chief marketing officer. “As a sister company to our recently selected global ad agency, McCann Erickson, our move to Weber Shandwick further strengthens synergies between advertising, marketing and communications to help deliver a fully-integrated, 360-degree communications program.”

Nortel is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, and does business in more than 150 countries around the world.
