CHICAGO—Chicago public relations firm Wheatley & Timmons is repositioning and branding its editorial media placement capability under a new division called NewSourceNow, which will provide news stories to mainstream media and over time will develop original branded content for the online environment.

“NewSourceNow will be positioned with media outlets nationally as a source of strong, well-researched, properly packaged and editorially appropriate news content,” said Robert Wheatley, chief executive officer. “It is our objective over time to be a respected and sought-after provider of relevant story material that meets the content needs of blue chip print and broadcast outlets.”

The agency is combining its broadcast, print and web departments under the NSN banner and all outbound media placement activity on behalf of the firm’s clients will originate from NSN. The agency also is laying the groundwork to develop original branded content for on-line environments such as serial webisodes along with custom-published media including brand-owned magazines and books.

“The media environment is shifting rapidly,” says Wheatley. “We believe content is king. We need to become both a reliable supplier of news as well as a content developer if we’re going to continue to successfully engage consumers, who are turning away in droves from conventional marketing platforms.”

NSN will produce and distribute video news releases, B-roll packages, satellite media tours, radio media tours and news content suitable for magazines, newspapers and web-based media.
