Positive Communications launched in 1997 with a heavy emphasis on media relations, but the backgrounds of its three principals—business head Shyam Grover is an 18-year veteran of the market research business; editorial chief Vineeth Jerath has a creative writing and public relations background, and client services leader Tanvi Sharma has a broad marketing and consulting background—were sufficiently varied that it was always going to expand beyond that niche to provide a broader range of services. Today, the firm offers a holistic approach that encompasses research, media monitoring and analysis, spokesperson training, CSR and crisis counsel, as well as design, online media and events support services.
The firm has a particular focus on the healthcare and technology sectors, but its client list includes a wide range of multinational companies including some descriptions Maruti Suzuki, Blackberry, Willmar Schwabe, SonoSite and Progressive Infotech, with new additions including healthcare clients Stryker and Mega We Care. The firm also saw growth in its digital communications practice, which offers a range of services including e-mail campaigns and search engine optimization, and launched a new division under the leadership of Jerath that publishes a lifestyle and wellness magazine, Vanilla. As a result, the past 12 months saw robust 72 percent growth. Interesting programs included a project for Quality Council of India that included a national policy summit on Vision Quality 2020, presided over by the President of India.
