Quinn & Company

Holmes Report

Founded in 1987, Quinn & Company is not exactly an overnight success, but it is really only over the past four years that the quality of its work—primarily in the consumer lifestyle arena, but also in the New York real estate business—began to translate into growth and a reputation that finally extends beyond its clients (who always recognized its quality) to the wider PR community. And that growth has been dramatic, as the firm saw its fee income expand from $1.8 million in 2004 to around $5.2 million last year, enough to establish it as a serious competitor in the New York public relations market.

Florence Quinn, the firm’s president and founder, served as a vice president at legendary creative boutique Jessica Dee Communications before striking out on her own, and is known for her expertise in the real estate and travel sectors (she has seen her firm pick up 66 Hotel Sales & Marketing Association awards). She was joined five years ago by John Frazier, formerly of another Jessica Dee spin-off, Patrice Tanaka & Co., who serves as executive vice president and led the “visioning” process that accelerated the firm’s growth. They are supported by a quintet of vice presidents: Carla Caccavale Reynolds (travel), Suzanne Billet, Gregory McGunagle, and Marisa Long (real estate), and Danielle Pagano (travel and the firm’s new food, wine and spirits group). Allie Herzon, digital media specialist, has been leading the firm’s expansion into the social media arena.

The firm’s client list includes some of the biggest names in travel, from New York landmarks such as The Alogonquin, Chelsea Markets and Circle Line Cruises as well as leading properties in the Hilton, JW Marriott and Westin families, British Midland Airways and Club Med. In the real estate realm, Quinn & Co. works primarily in the New York residential market, for clients include Albanese Organization, Alchhemy Properties, Cushman & Wakefiled Sonnennblick Goldman, Kaufman Organization, Starwood Capital and Pei Partnership Architects. And the fledgling food, wine and spirits group represents restaurants and retail outlets ranging from Chef Tony Mantuano at Spiaggia to Celsius at The Pond at Bryant Park to Aromi, the restaurant at the Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice.

Among the highlights of 2008, Quinn was the North American public relations partner of Tourism Queensland, which earned a Cannes Golden Lion award (and numerous other accolades) for its Greatest Job in the World publicity campaign.

Quinn & Co. “handles the basics with ease and the complications with creative excellence,” says Kate Moeller of Club Med, and “is an essential part of our hotels’ success and a true partner,” adds Dawn Walzak, senior vice president of Tishman Hotel Corporation.
