With its headquarters in Albany and strong ties to state government, Sawchuk Brown has long been regarded as the premier independent public relations and public affairs firm in upstate New York. While remaining focused on its grassroots approach, the firm has expanded its geographic reach through partnerships with local, national, and international firms—it’s an affiliate of Hill & Knowlton, for example—and its portfolio of services, offering in-house design, new media, research, and strategic marketing planning and making itself ever more valuable to its clients.
Last year also saw Sawchuk Brown expand into the technology sector, adding new clients including Intermagnetics General, the New York State Software Network, and a handful of smaller dot-coms, while continuing to attract a broad cross section of companies in other industries, such as MVP Healthcare. Regents College, and new energy company Mechanical Technology. As a result, revenue growth was up better than 15 percent and fees hit $2.4 million.
Sawchuk Brown continues to maintain its close ties with the state legislature. President David Brown, a former editor of the Albany Times-Union, continues to take a hands on role with clients, and the support team was strengthened this year with the addition of JoAnne LeSage, former VP of communications for the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and Sean Casey, former chief of staff to Rensselaer County Legislature.
