Formed in 1991 as part of the Solid Communications group, which also includes advertising, promotions, and sports marketing agencies, Solid Relations is a full-service public relations firm that offers marketing and corporate communications counsel, media and employee relations, financial communications, crisis and event management, with a 15-person team, led by president Stavros Leoussis, an advertising veteran and managing director of the Solid Group, and director Rita Malicouti, who joined in 1992 after working in PR and marketing for Austrian Airlines.
One of the PR unit’s first clients was Unilever, and over the years the firm has handed a broad range of corporate and marketing PR assignments for the consumer goods company, from internal communication in support of a total quality management programme to nutrition education campaigns to product support for the Lipton tea brand. The firm continues to work for a variety of Unilever food products (including olive oil, margarine, and spreads) and for clients such as AMVYX (importer of wines and spirits such as Absolut, Moet & Chandon, Campari, and Glenfidich), the Greek Ministry of Tourism, Public Power Corporation, Basil & Elisa Goulandris Modern Art Museum, Bodossakis Foundation, Emporiki Bank, and Isuzu.
Although the Athens Olympics in 2004 did not bring as much work to local firms as many had expected, Solid did manage one high-profile assignment—the Olympic Torch relay and ensuing ceremony in the Inousses Stadium. In the year since, revenues are up about 10 percent and has added a handful of new clients, including toothpaste brand AIM, OPAP (the Organisation of Football Match Prognostics), and Accord Services. It has also continued its award-winning ways, picking up two gold, one silver and one bronze in the local ERMIS Awards competition over the past four years.
Solid Relations is the Greek affiliate of ECCO network of independent public relations firms and works with independent firms in the U.K., France, Germany and other major markets.
