NEW YORK—Univision Communications, the media company serving Hispanic America, has promoted Rosemary Mercedes to executive vice president and chief communications officer. Mercedes, who has been serving as interim head of corporate communications and public relations since August 2016, will continue to be based in New York and will report to Randy Falco, president and CEO. She will be responsible for UCI's overall communications strategy, including the media relations approach for all corporate and business matters, industry issues, and programming and talent publicity efforts.

DURHAM, NC—Michael Schoenfeld, who has served as vice president for public affairs and government relations at Duke University since 2008, has been reappointed for a third five-year term. Schoenfeld oversees communications and advocacy for the university and medical center and serves as Duke’s chief spokesperson. He also leads the university’s federal relations work, and established Duke’s office in Washington, DC.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Helicopter Association International has appointed Dan Sweet as director of public relations and communications, responsible for managing and directing the association’s external communications, creating communication strategies and occasionally speaking on behalf of the association and its members. Sweet joins HAI after working for 22 years as public relations manager for Columbia Helicopters in Oregon.

NEW YORK—ArborCrowd, an online commercial real estate company, has named Kara Yi as vice president, marketing communications, leading marketing and communications strategy. Yi joins from BlackBerry, where she headed corporate communications and led a global team focused on public relations, social media, events and internal communications.

SOUTH BEND, IN—Jon Glesing has joined Teachers Credit Union, Indiana’s largest credit union, as director of public relations, working across all external channels, including social media. Most recently, Glesing served as senior manager of communications, marketing and retail for the Indianapolis Indians. Before that, he was public relations director for the Indianapolis Zoo.
