LONDON — Technology PR agency Clarity has hired the former Germany CEO of Burson-Marsteller, Alexander Fink, as its new market lead for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Fink left Burson-Marsteller last July after four years with the firm, as Wolfgang Lünenbürger-Reidenbach, previously MD of Cohn & Wolfe Germany, was announced as BCW’s market lead, five months after the two firms merged.

Before joining B-M in 2014, Fink held leadership roles at Edelman in Germany and Switzerland, and and Pleon (now Ketchum) in Italy, Germany and Switzerland.

In his new role at Clarity, which he takes up on 1 February, Fink will spearhead Clarity’s ambitious growth plans in Europe, starting with the opening of a second office in Munich to add to Clarity’s existing office in Berlin.

Fink told the Holmes Report: “The priority is to grow our business in the German-speaking markets by people and revenue, by enriching our presence in Germany and focusing on integrated solutions for businesses going through digital transformation.

And he added: “There’s a degree of entrepreneurialism in shaping Clarity’s business model for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with much more freedom than in a huge network.”

Clarity, which now has offices in London, Berlin, New York and San Francisco, recently hired former Bite MD Rachel Gilley to lead the London office. Last year the agency also acquired San Francisco-based agency DRS Media.

Clarity CEO and founder Sami McCabe said: “The addition of Alexander in Germany gives Clarity a world-class European leadership team. We see huge potential in the DACH region, and to have someone of Alexander’s pedigree and profile leading the charge there puts us in a very strong position to capitalise on the opportunity. We go into 2019 feeling confident about our prospects of driving significant growth in Europe this year.”
