MIAMI—Steven Berlin Johnson, author of Future Perfect and Where Good Ideas Come From and according to Prospect magazine one of the “top 10 brains of the digital future,” has joined the lineup of speakers for our second annual Global Public Relations Summit, which will take place in Miami from November 11-14.
He joins a roster of speakers that includes Present Shock author Douglas Rushkoff, WPP chief executive Martin Sorrell and Interpublic Group’s Harris Diamond, as well as a strong roster of leaders from both the corporate and agency sides of the PR business.
Johnson will deliver a speech on the topic of innovation—building on his latest best-seller Future Perfect, which argues that a new generation of “peer progressives” is making the world a better place through collaborative innovation—and then participate in a conversation with Ketchum chief executive Rob Flaherty.
Johnson is the author of a number of books, including Where Good Ideas Come From, The Innova¬tor’s Cookbook,The Ghost Map, The Invention of Air, and Everything Bad is Good For You, which argued that the increas¬ing complexity of modern media is training us to think in more complex ways.
He has also co-created three influential sites: the pioneering online magazine FEED; the Webby Award-winning community site Plastic.com; and the hyperlocal media site outside.in, recently acquired by AOL. He is a contributing editor to Wired magazine and has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, and appeared on television shows ranging from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
