LOS ANGELES — Kevin King has left his role as chief digital officer at Citizen Relations after less than a year, the Holmes Report has learned.

"We can confirm Kevin King is no longer with Citizen," global chairman Daryl McCullough said. "During his time at Citizen, Kevin provided the agency with guidance about its digital future, and we thank him for his contribution and wish him well in his next chapter."

King joined Citizen Relations last November, after 14 years with Edelman. In addition to serving as digital head, he was also charged with leading Citizen’s collaboration with other agencies under the Vision7 group, which was owned by China's BlueFocus until last week.

During his tenure at Edelman, King oversaw the agency’s growth into the largest digital player in the PR business. He departed the firm in July of 2018.

It is understood that King left Citizen in July. Last week, BlueFocus announced a deal with $300m publicly-listed acquisition vehicle Legacy Acquisition Corp, which will see the group's international agencies — including Citizen Relations and We Are Social — spun off into a new listed company called Blue Impact.

"Citizen continues to build upon its digital business and capabilities, bolstered by some of the leading digital, social and performance marketing talent in the world, allowing us to provide clients the best services in every marketing discipline, digital or otherwise," McCullough said.

King declined to comment on his departure or on his next step.
