LOS ANGELES—Occidental Petroleum Corporation has named Melissa Schoeb vice president, corporate communications.

Schoeb, 43, has led Occidental's communications function since July 2011, when she took over the senior role from Richard Kline, and has responsibility for directing corporate communications for the company and its worldwide operations.

She joined Occidental in 2007 as senior director of corporate communications. Previously, she was a senior vice president, senior partner and general manager at Fleishman-Hillard.

In addition, Occidental Petroleum has appointed Dale Petroskey as vice president, public affairs. Petroskey served as assistant press secretary in the White House for President Ronald Reagan, and later as assistant secretary of public affairs at the US Department of Transportation. He was also vice president for public affairs at the National Geographic Society.
