SAN FRANCISCO--Audio communications player Plantronics has named Burson-Marsteller spin-off North of Nine Communications as its new agency of record.

North of Nine, which launched earlier this year under the leadership of Jennifer Graham Clary, will focus on programs to build Plantronics’ brand awareness.

The agency takes over North American PR duties from previous incumbent Voce.

The firm will be responsible for the development and execution of media campaigns that aim to enhance Plantronics’ reputation for technology innovations, design and corporate leadership. North of Nine partner Mary Ritti will lead the account, supporting Russell Castronovo, director of global communications at Plantronics.

“Plantronics has a remarkable history of design and engineering innovations that span consumer headsets to space missions, and they set the standard for world-class audio technology,” said Jennifer Graham Clary, chief executive officer of North of Nine. “We are thrilled to partner with Plantronics to highlight their ongoing innovations in new and exciting ways.”

“As the industry and media landscape continue to evolve, we wanted to build a strategic relationship with an aggressive, up-and-coming partner and North of Nine fits the bill perfectly,” said Plantronics' Castronovo.  “We’re very excited to be working with North of Nine. They have a combination of talent, energy, insight and entrepreneurial spirit that we love.”
