WASHINGTON, DC — Charged with growing the agency’s Washington operation, Scott Widmeyer, a Finn Partners founding managing partner, has been named chief strategy officer of the capital city’s office.

Widmeyer has been part of Finn Partners since 2013, when he sold his Washington firm, Widmeyer Communications, to the agency. He is actively involved in a number of organizations including George Washington University’s media and public affairs school, the Education Writers Association and the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.

Founding partner Peter Finn credited Widmeyer for his insights around strategic communications and public policy, which has helped the office evolve into a 65-person operation that generates roughly $15m a year.

His promotion comes as Finn Partners hones its focus on expanding its Washington office, which has been open for business since the firm’s 2011 launch. The operation includes teams specializing in public affairs, education, government agencies, digital and research.

“Washington, DC continues to be a dynamic growth area for PR and marketing, and it’s been a high priority for Finn to continue expanding our DC operations, the second largest after our New York headquarters,” Finn said.  “We believe in the vibrancy and future of the Washington, DC area and our vision is to build upon our existing practice areas as well as add capabilities in new sectors.”
