CUPERTINO, CA — Seagate has given its US PR business to Creation as it undergoes a comprehensive review of all PR duties as the company battles for leadership of the global data storage market.
The Holmes Report understands the data storage giant held three separate pitches, covering the US, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, respectively. Clive Over, director of corporate communications at Seagate confirmed its US business has been awarded to Weber Shandwick conflict firm Creation.
"We are still in negotiations for the other regions," Over added.
Seagate previously worked with a number of PR firms in the various markets. In each region, said sources, the mandate covers the full range of communications, including the company's key focus areas of original equipment manufacturers, distributors and retailers.
Seagate is best known for its hard disk drives, a market in which it competes for leadership with Western Digital. Seagate, which draws more than half of its sales from Asia-Pacific, has recently seen a slight decline in market share versus its key rival.
